Re: Many Thanks

You changed my life; let me rephrase that sentence; you changed our lives. To be honest with you, I didn’t know what to expect. I realize that it was a big ask, almost Biblical by comparison. I wanted what most thought was impossible. I wanted the stamina of a pro hockey player, the poise of a ballerina and  the sea legs of a fishing boat captain — all so I could take my daughter on a 68-feet walk that timed out a 53-seconds assuming of course i could remain vertical. The odds were iffy at best

You and your team were up for the challenge. They knew what was at stake, It was not about extending the DJs contract for another 90-seconds. So how does one measure the the costs of dashed hopes and shattered dreams?

While some of our guests knew of my condition and the recent deterioration I had experienced, most of the remaining guests were none the wiser. When their song began to play; an acoustic rendition of the Beatles classic, Here Comes the Sun, the crowd stood in an uneventful manner. It was exactly what we had hoped and prayed it would be; an uneventful 53-second walk down a 68’ aisle.

Some would suggest It was a non-event or wasn’t commensurate with the effort put forth. My daughter and i saw it for what it represented, It was the most important moment in Holland that night; it was a moral victory over a disease that had consumed my families hopes and dreams for the past 12 years.

I didn’t get a chance to interact with each of your staff, it was apparent, they were invested. I knew from my first day there, my fight had become their fight

You have every reason to be proud of all of them.

Respectfully,

It was a big ask, almost Biblical by comparison.  I wanted the stamina of a hockey player, the poise of a ballerina, and the sea legs of a fishing boat captain all so I could walk my daughter down the aisle on her wedding day.

You and your team were up for the challenge and did a fantastic job. While It may appear that the 53 seconds to walk the 68’ aisle was an insignificant part of the evening to her and me,  it was the most important moment in Holland that night. It was a moral victory that had consumed my family for the past 12 years. While I  didn’t get a chance to interact with every one of your staff, I knew from my first day there that my fight had become their fight. They were invested. You must be very proud of all of them. You have every reason to be.      Kudos to you all

Thanks for making our day special.

Respectfully,
